"Through the grace of the sacrament of marriage, parents receive the responsibility and privilege of evangelizing their children. Parents should initiate their children at an early age into the mysteries of the faith of which they are the "first heralds" for their children." (CCC 2225)
"Education in the faith by the parents should begin in the child's earliest years. This already happens when family members help one another to grow in faith by the witness of a Christian life in keeping with the Gospel. Family catechesis precedes, accompanies, and enriches other forms of instruction in the faith. Parents have the mission of teaching their children to pray and to discover their vocation as children of God. The parish is the Eucharistic community and the heart of the liturgical life of Christian families; it is a privileged place for the catechesis of children and parents." (CCC 2226)
Dear Parents,
Thank you for enrolling your children in our Religious Education Program. Within each Grade Page you will find chapter schedules, quizzes, articles and other materials, resources posted for each class, that will help you connect with the class, whether you have the task of teaching at home, or you are continuing the lessons with follow-up lessons provided.
Grades 1 and 4 will have to attend the 30 minute Teaching Touching Safety program on October 25 in person.
There is a Quarterly Assessment after 4 classes, and a Midterm Assessment in December for online students. This is to ensure that the students are keeping up with the work and are learning. Details on location and modality of administration of these assessments will be forthcoming.
For Remote Learning families, books are available for pick up. For In-Person learners, please note that books will have to be brought home and back to class each time.
Any questions or concerns, you may contact the teacher and/or myself, Mrs. Barbara Dennis at olqpreled@olqpbranchville.org.
Prayer for a new Religious Education Year
God our Merciful Father, we turn to You at the start of this new school year.
Open our ears to hear Your voice; open our hearts to grow in love as we listen to
Your Word. We make this prayer to You through the Holy Spirit,
in the name of Jesus Christ Our Lord.
Amen.
